Terry was the son of Edward and Alvatine Bracken of Toledo, Ohio. He was a born-again Christian who passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife Margaret of 53 wonderful years.
Terry was a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In Terry’s younger days he worked as a machinist, served for the volunteer fire department and was a part time animal control worker in our hometown village. At the young age of 34 Terry took a life-threatening fall from a 2 ½ story building landing on concrete. He was a determined fighter that lived life to its fullest. He was a kind man that never passed by a homeless person, or person in need without stopping to help. On top of his compassion for others, Terry loved to be a jokester. He would play tricks and pranks on people just to see them laugh. In his last years he helped his wife care for the animals of the SPCA of Pennsylvania County that would come into their home. As hard as the job was, he could not bear the thought of an animal being mistreated, abused or unwanted. Terry was a resident of Chatham Virginia for the last 20 years.
Terry was an amazing husband, father, and Papa. He will always be number one to his family. He is survived by his wife Margaret, brother Charles Bracken (Betty), son John Bracken (Lisa), daughter Elizabeth Howard (James), granddaughters Kerensa Castilleja (David), Alexandra Bracken (Mario), and Leeann Harwick, his grandson Jeffrey Harwick (Ashley), great-granddaughter Resolute Castilleja, and many nieces and nephews. With Terry’s love for animals, we do not want to forget his loving fur babies, Gunther and Lola. Terry was preceded by his mother and father, sister Betty Hunkapiller and so many more.
The services for Terry along with a celebration of life will be private. If you would like to send condolences they can be sent to their residence or to P.O. Box 16 Chatham, VA 24531. In lieu of condolences you can also choose to donate to your local animal shelter in his honor.
