Elder Sampson Brown, 93, peacefully transitioned from this life on February 5, 2026, at 11:55 a.m., after a brief stay in hospice, surrounded by the love and devotion of his family. A steadfast servant of Jehovah God for over 74 years of faithful service, Elder Brown lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, humility, and compassion.
Born on September 10, 1933, Elder Brown dedicated his life to honoring God through service, integrity, and love for others. He was known for his gentle spirit, thoughtful counsel, and the steady presence that made people feel valued and understood. His life stood as a testament to the power of kindness and the endurance of a faithful heart.
In his early years, Sampson Brown served faithfully in the United States Army, where he developed a passion for boxing. His natural strength and discipline carried him far—so far that he eventually became a sparring partner for Heavyweight Champion Joe Frazier in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This chapter of his life reflected his courage, resilience, and unwavering determination.
Elder Brown was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 74 years, Carrie Brown; his eldest son, Charles Gregory Brown; his second eldest son, Simpson “Simmy” Brown; his daughter, Karen Brown Ferrell; five brothers; and four sisters. Their memories remain forever cherished, and their spirits live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
He leaves behind his eldest daughter, Ann Garrett of Texas; his youngest son, Vincent Brown Sr. of Danville, Virginia; and his older sister, Edith Townsend of Knightdale, North Carolina, who will continue to cherish his memory and the profound impact he made on their lives.
Elder Brown was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His legacy continues through his children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who were blessed to know him.
Among those who remain to honor his memory is Latoya Brown Scarlett of Apex, North Carolina, whose steadfast care, love, and support brought comfort and dignity to Elder Brown throughout his journey. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to Melissa and Tommy Dabbs for their dedication, compassion, and the unwavering hours they spent by his side, offering comfort and support when it was needed most.
Elder Brown’s life will be celebrated with deep gratitude—gratitude for his wisdom, his laughter, his prayers, and the countless ways he strengthened the lives around him. Though he has departed from this earthly home, his presence remains deeply felt in the hearts of all who loved him.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday February 10, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
