Ruby Lee Johnson

Ruby Lee Johnson (Ms. Ruby) of Danville, VA, beloved mother, auntie, sister, cousin and friend to many, sadly left our world on August 9, 2025, after a life richly lived in service to the Lord and others. Ms. Ruby retired from Wal-Mart and devoted time to community service at Vance Street Baptist Church. She believed in giving back what you were blessed to receive from the Lord.

She was born in 1946 in New Rochelle, NY, graduated from New Rochelle High School, and was a computer operator for many companies in the New York and Connecticut areas. At the age of 50, she moved to Danville for the slower pace of the south. She is preceded by her father, John Douglas Johnson, mother, Ethel Goode Johnson and sister, Denise Johnson-Smith. Her memory lives on through her son, Deloyd (Rocky) Johnson-Jones and son in-law Robert Johnson-Jones, three sisters, Betty Jean Johnson, Beverly Pearce and Wanda Johnson-Brogdon, loving niece Katina Pearce, 1st - Cousin Lydia Green, and many nephews and nieces who loved her dearly. She will be missed for the joy she brought to those others, her smile that lit up the room, and willingness to help others.
