Paula Raby Cole of 127 Idlewood Terrace, Danville, Virginia passed away peacefully July 23,2025 surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born May 22, 1955, in Hartsville, S.C. and spent most of her childhood in N. C. Paula became a loving and dedicated nurse. During her nursing career she worked at hospitals in S.C. and at the Memorial Hospital in Danville, as well as at Nursing Homes/Assisted Living in N.C. and Roman Eagle and Camelot in Danville. After retiring from nursing, she taught Anatomy and Medical Records at National Business College. She was a member of the Danville Line Dancing Club, and volunteered with Danville Hospice and Community United Ministries. She loved writing poetry, reading and spending time at the beach (her happy place). Paula was a member of Grace Design Church and her love for and faith in Jesus held strong until the end.
Paula is survived by her husband Hunter Cole, son Chris Raby, grandson Jacob Raby, brother-in-law Rodney Raby, stepson Chris Cole, stepdaughter Amy Throckmorton, step grandchildren Savon Wells, 2Lt. Christian Cole, Joseph Cole, Caleb Cole and her precious fur baby Buddy. She was predeceased by her father Robert Hughes, her first husband Eddie Raby, a special uncle and aunt, Marvin and Jean Hamm, and her beloved fur babies Sally and Kokie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with a visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to the Danville Humane Society in Paula’s memory.
