Katherine (Saunders) Hicks

Katherine Hicks, 73, of Danville, Virginia passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at her residence.

Born May 28, 1951, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia she was the daughter of the late John Stroud Jr. and Lindy Woodson Saunders.

Survivors include three daughters Tonya Hicks, Pamela Saunders, and Tammy Hicks; one son Rodney Hicks; seven sisters Fannie Farmer, Linda Williams, Lizzie Ann Saunders, Alexis Smith, Jackie Mayo, Naomi Stroud Richardson, and Oweida Cole; four brothers Ronnie Saunders, Kim Austin, Larry Saunders, and Michael Saunders; nine grandchildren LaTroy Graves, Charnelle Hicks, Khadijah Johnson, Atiya Johnson, Ryan Hairson, Angel Epps, Ariel Hicks, Shominque Robinson, and Bianca Brooks; six great-grandchildren Sky Weatherford, Nalani Miller, Tristian Hairson, Riley Hairson, and Lalani Hairson; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her paternal grandparents John Stroud Sr. and Mary Stroud; maternal grandparents Willie Reid Woodson and Lizzie Mae Glass Woodson; three sisters Mary Lizzie Saunders, Carolyn Waller, and Shirley Lessey; and five brothers Willie Junior Saunders, John B. Saunders, David Lee Saunders, Tony Curtis Saunders, and Dexter Mayo.

The family will receive visitors at the residence 330 Starmont Drive on Thursday August 15, 2024, and Friday August 16, 2024, from 3-6 P.M. only.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at True Holiness Church with Bishop Charles R. Walker, Eulogist. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service from 11:30-12:00.
