Jordan Vaden Obituary

Jordan Christopher Vaden, 45, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Chatham, VA, was called home on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Atrium Health Pineville.

Jordan was born September 16, 1978, to Jordan and Millicent Motley. He was a 1996 graduate of Chatham High School, where he was a standout football and track athlete. He continued his track career at Livingston College, where he studied Business Administration and Management and continued to excel. During his time at “The Ston,” as he affectionately called it, he was an eight-time track All-American and National Champion. In 2004, as a member of the Livingston College Track and Field Team, Jordan won the NCAA DII National title in the 200 meters and finished second in the 400 meters.

After his track career at Livingstone College, Jordan began to run track professionally under the sponsorship of Adidas and would later become a member of Team USA. He competed in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in 2006 and 2007. At the 2006 Championship, running his personal best of 19.98, Jordan finished 2nd in the 200 meters, just behind American Indoor 200-meter record holder Wallace Spearmon. He also finished 3rd in the 100 meters. Jordan also went on to compete in the US Olympic Trials in 2008.

As an entrepreneur, Jordan was the owner of Fire Out Protection, LLC in Charlotte, NC. His company specialized in fire extinguisher services, maintenance, and inspections. Jordan’s passion for track, his humor, and his infectious smile will be forever missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rosa Mae Richardson Vaden; paternal grandfather, Jordan Motley; uncles, McDonald “Moochie” Vaden and Frank Motley; aunts, Rosa R. Stephens and Arlita Vaden Lovelace.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Noeline Wilson Vaden; his five children who were his pride and joy, Journey, Jamie, Jameson, Josiah, and Jordan Vaden; his loving mother, Millicent Motley; his father, Jordan Motley; maternal grandfather, Charlie Vaden, Sr. (Yvonne); paternal grandmother, Lottie Barksdale Motley; a brother, Anthony Vaden and cousins who were like brothers, Kevin and Keith Smith; uncles, Deacon Charlie Vaden, Jr., Jayvester Stephens, Ronald Lovelace; aunts, Elaine Bennett (Hugh), Paulena Vaden (Leslie), Elena Logan (Darrell), Linda, Betty and Sandra Motley; seven nieces; and a host of cousins, friends, and the track and field community.
