In Loving Memory of John Herbert Jones
John Herbert Jones affectionately known as “Beaver”, born on April 21, 1938, to John Jones and Addie Mae Brandon, peacefully departed from this world surrounded by loved ones on November 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Asia Danielle Means, brother Ernest Lee Jones, sister-in-law Rose Jones, and a host of uncles and aunts.
At an early age John accepted Christ and was baptized at River Zion Baptist Church, Blanch, NC. John's early years were shaped by his education in the public school system of North Carolina and Halifax County, Virginia. In pursuit of new opportunities, he later relocated to New Rochelle, NY, and eventually settled in Mount Vernon, NY. His industrious spirit led him to a dedicated career as a truck driver with Coca-Cola, Inc., where he faithfully served for over 40 years.
On November 10th, 1984, John united in marriage with his longtime sweetheart, Mrs. Maxine Whitlock (Jones). Their union was marked by love, commitment, and a deep connection that endured until his final moments. Throughout his long- term illness, Maxine remained a pillar of strength, providing him with unwavering care, love, and affection.
John leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maxine Jones, five sons: Barry Donnell Jones, Landon Clark Jones, Dr. D. Tyrone Brandon, Sr. (Beverly), Dr. Gerald Q Brandon, and Tevis M. Brandon. He is also survived by two sisters, Willie May Bailey, and Adele Roberts (John), niece Imma (Jeannie) White and a beloved nephew Spencer (BoBo) Jones (Lynn), brother-in-law, Charlie Jeffreys (Vanessa).
John's memory lives on through his eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends. His impact on their lives will forever be cherished, and his warm spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
We are all saddened by this temporary separation, but we know that John Herbert Jones now rests from his labor and lives eternally in the celestial realm of God.
