John Arthur Mayo

John Arthur Mayo, 74, of 221 Hamlin Avenue Danville, Virginia passed away Thursday March 30, 2023 at Sovah Health Danville.

Born July 23, 1948 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia he was the son of the late Lonzy B. Mayo and Ilove Chatten Mayo. He was married to Gloria Sydnor Mayo who survives.

In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include four daughters Carol Mayo Grant (Chad), Shawnda Mayo, Johnetta Mayo, and Jenae Mayo Williams (Corey); five sisters Ruby Mayo Carter, Thelma Mayo King, Hazel Mayo Saunders, Elizabeth Mayo Fitzgerald, and Lillie Pearl Mayo; five grandchildren Jalen TraShawn Grant, Rameer Andrake Tyshaun Mayo, Zahmeerion Lee Mayo, Zuhmeera Lanae Cardwell, Christopher Davis, Jr.; two great-grandchildren Alessia Jenae', and Zimeer Mayo; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive visitors at the residence.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 7, 2023 at 1 PM at New Sandy Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Daye, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
