John Davis Carter, 86, of 621 Main Street, Danville, VA, passed away, Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, Danville, VA.
Born April 2, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, VA, he was the son of the late Charlie Carter and Rosa Lipford Carter. He was married to Fannie Prunty Carter, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Fannie Prunty Carter, survivors include two daughters, Lorna Thomas and Valerie Lewis (Charles); six sons, John Carter Jr., Tommy Carter (Janet), Martin Carter, Terry Carter (Donna), Calvin Carter (Yolanda), and Ellis Carter; one sister, Pansy Hudson; one brother, Roosevelt Carter and a host of grandchildren other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Barbara Carter; four sisters, Queen Clark, Louise Bennett, Viola Elkin and Early Mae Carter; four brothers, George Carter, Joe Carter, Charlie Carter, and Robert Carter.
The family will receive visitors at the home of his daughter Valerie Lewis at 1113 Rosemary Lane, Danville, VA
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 1 PM from the Chapel of Wilson Funeral Services. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A viewing will be held on Wednesday August 4, 2021 from 4-6 PM at Wilson Funeral Services and Cremation, Inc.
