James "Jim" Michael Morrison Obituary

James Michael Morrison, lovingly known as Jim, passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 57, leaving behind a legacy of humor, kindness, and unwavering love for his family.

Born on April 23, 1968, in Lowville, New York, Jim was a youth athlete and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1986. In 1997, he relocated to Danville, Virginia, with his former wife Marion Freeman of many years and their children, where he would remain for the rest of his life. He was a proud alumnus of the Culinary Institute of Virginia, graduating in 2011 with honors — earning cum laude distinction, Dean’s List recognition, and perfect attendance. He dedicated 14 years to the food industry, where he took great pride in his craft and service.

Jim was known for his crudeness and quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and boundless generosity. Behind his comedic nature was a deeply tender and selfless man who always put others first. He found joy in the simple things and had a heart that held space for everyone.

He is survived by his loving children: Mallory Tickle (Brian Lowery), Meredith Stone (Joseph Stone), Matthew Morrison (Kayla Morrison), and Melinda Morrison (Jeff Lyons).

He was a proud Papa to Mallory, Arora, Zaiden, Brookelynn, Brayden, Alexis, Kyran, Felicity, Avery, Ireland, Porter, Haven, Oliver, Evelyn, Claudia, Kessler, Gabriel, Benjamin, Riverly, Silas, and Sawyer.

He is also survived by his siblings: Randy Morrison (Sue Morrison), Steve Morrison, Amanda Morrison Sullivan (Rob West), and Sara Clark (Josh Clark).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Randolph Morrison, and his grandson, Atley Tickle.

Jim had many fond memories of his hometown of Lowville, especially spending time on Tugg Hill and at MOTO with family and friends — moments he recalled often and with great affection.

In lieu of flowers, donations or tributes are appreciated to help with final expenses.

Jim’s memory will live on in the laughter he sparked, his humor, the foods he loved, his distinct personality traits and the immense care he showed to his family.
