James Uylsses Griffin Hughes

James Uylsses Griffin Hughes, 74, of 462 Williamson Road, Danville, VA, passed away, Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC.

Born July 9, 1948 in Danville, Virginia, he was the son of the late James Griffin Hughes and Mabel Cunningham Hughes. He was married to Cynthia Hughes, who survives.

Mr. James Uylsses Griffin Hughes was the Owner, Operator, and Funeral Director of Cunningham and Hughes Funeral Home in Danville, Virginia for over fifty years. He leaves a legacy of love and wisdom to all who knew him.

In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Hughes; two sons, James C. Hughes and Michael C. Hughes; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Thomas C. Hughes.

The family will receive visitors at the residence.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 2 PM at Loyal Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Mask are required.
