Donna Samuels Schweiger, 72, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. Born on November 5, 1952, Donna was the beloved daughter of the late Lottie Turner Samuels and Harold Russell Samuels.

Donna’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Herbert Joseph Schweiger; her three children, Patricia Anne Schweiger (Chris Overby), Adam Joseph Schweiger (Rebecca), and Samuel Taylor Schweiger (Emily Stickford); her cherished granddaughter, Cori Jane Schweiger; one sister Elena Daniel; one brother Steven Samuel; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one sister Jennifer Cashen. To Cori Jane, she was lovingly known as “Big,” because she had Big Love for Cori Jane.

After graduating from high school, Donna began her career working in Accounts Receivable for Dan River at Hylton Hall. She later dedicated many years to her most treasured role — that of wife and mother — before returning to the workforce in various administrative positions at GLH Johnson, CIT, and Averett University.

Donna enjoyed helping others and volunteering in her community. Some of the organizations she worked with are The Danville Humane Society, Roman Eagle, VITA Tax Program, GLH Johnson, God’s Storehouse, and the Timely Treasures Collectors Club.

Donna had a kind and generous spirit that touched everyone she met. She was well-known for always having a dish of candy ready for her coworkers — just one of the many ways she showed her warmth and thoughtfulness.

Christmas held a special place in Donna’s heart all year round. She was an avid collector of Hallmark Christmas ornaments and a proud charter member of the Keepsake Ornament Collectors Club. Her love for all things Christmas, Coca-Cola, and Disney brought joy and sparkle into her home and the lives of those around her.

Donna’s kindness, her warm smile, and her boundless love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know Donna. Love You Be Safe (LYBS).
