Donald Bruce Johns, 71, of Danville, VA, formerly of Fairfax, VA, departed this earthly life on June 6, 2024, at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation. Born July 16, 1952, in Arlington, VA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Corrine Johns. He was married to Frances Simpson Johns, who predeceased him. They were one month shy of celebrating their 50th anniversary before she passed away. Donald was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Johns.
Donald is survived by his only child, Shannon Johns Crack and her husband, Kevin Crack of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Aaron Crack of Ashburn, VA, Bryce Crack of Chatham, VA, and his only granddaughter Korinne Crack of Danville, VA; two brothers, Bill Johns of Washington state and Mike Johns of South Carolina.
Donald served his country in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972. He later worked for the U.S. Secret Service, where he serviced for 17 years, until 1989, when his health declined due to multiple sclerosis.
A loving and wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, Donald was a one of kind people that if they talked to him, he was warm and funny. Most importantly, he was a child of God. We as his loved ones know we will be together again.
Remember, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
We love you so much and we will always keep you in our hearts and minds.
Thank you, dad, for everything you did for me growing up, and as an adult. I love you so much. You will always be in my heart and soul.
Love,
Shannon
