Clara Marie Hairston,87, of Danville Virginia passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 11, 1939, in Martinsville, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Major Clark and Marie Cobbs Clark. She was married to the late Delano Hairston - Aiken. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Clara was also preceded in death by her five brothers James Clark, Major Clark, Joe Clark, John Clark, Robert Clark; five sisters Pauline Fitzgerald, Evelyn Carter, Ella Jones, Virginia Gunter, Lucille Love; her granddaughter, Rosalia Lipscomb; a devoted family friend, Benny Oliver; and members of the New Hope family.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory two daughters, Phyllis (Harvey) Lipscomb, Lisa (Eric) Lipscomb); two sons Delano Hairston, Al (Teresa) Hairston; sister-in-law Deloris Watlington; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends.

Clara was deeply rooted in her faith as a long-time member of New Hope Apostolic Church. She found joy in cooking and bringing loved ones together through meals. Clara will be remembered for her kindness, strength, unwavering faith, and gentle spirit.  Her loving presence touched many lives and will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 02, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at New Hope Apostolic Church, 166 New Street Danville, VA 24540. Interment will follow in the Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 11:00 PM to 12:00 PM.
